Yes, October! When the leaves begin changing from vibrant green to vibrant orange and the whole of the South begins to die. It is a time when the sun 'ner dares to shine and the once extremely hot temperatures give way to extremely cold ones. It is a time that has young and old alike standing just outside the doorway at 12:00 noon in December wearing shorts and the very next day bundled up in a coat and clutching an umbrella with hushed gruntings of "are you fucking kidding me?"
Such is Mississippi, such is Mississippi.

So Holly and I had a birthday this past Saturday, and it was great. The weather was perfect, the location - Memphis - was perfect, and the company was pretty good as well. It was the kind of day when all your plans come together in a not-quite-all-went-to-hell kind of way and everyone involved just has a great time. For my own part, I ate various cheeses, drank a lot of beer, smoked a tiny cigar, and gorged myself on splendid BBQ ribs. I bought two bottles of scotch and margarita fixin's for the Missus, and capped off my weekend with a marathon of Dirt 2. Hot DAMN that game is fun.

So thanks to everyone for the kind birthday wishes and even bigger thanks if you contributed toward my growing scotch collection. I'm up to almost 20 bottles now!
